POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing financial and administrative order, to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. While reporting to the Controller, the manager oversees the other accounting staff. The Accounting Manager performs various accounting tasks, to include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to financial reporting system output, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports. Assists Controller in preparation of monthly financial statements. Tracks assets among various branches. Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems. Responds to borrowers regarding loan servicing questions and contacts borrowers to notify them of payments due. Assists in performance of various clerical duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages staff accounting staff
  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting processes
  • Responsible for transfer of funding and purchase data from LOS to accounting database
  • Oversees asset tracking and property tax
  • Oversees accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Streamline department functions to ensure optimal productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Assists with audit requests
  • Oversees reimbursement process
  • Prepares routine entries and posts financial transactions; reconciles entries and internal ledgers to financial reporting system reports
  • Assists in month-end duties to prepare financial statements
  • Prepare annual 1098/1099 statements
  • Responsible for cash and cash related transactions. Reconciles bank accounts
  • Responsible for loan servicing
  • Performing other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor's degree or at least 2 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • CPA license is preferred or actively working toward a CPA license
  • Experience in mortgage industry preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, must also be 18 years or older.
  • Sound judgment, ability to think critically, including the ability to evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment; strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong detail orientation and highly organized
  • Demonstrate patience and professionalism when interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Ethical, with a commitment to company values
  • Proficiency with data entry, PDF software programs, Microsoft Word, and Excel required
